All the materials required for the project must be planned and correctly procured in time and sequence, because all activities are interlinked. There could be an accumulation chain reaction of delay if not properly timed, for instance, procurement of concrete ingredients but having no cement is bad planning.

Materials procurement has many phases:

1. Ordering goods well in advance specifying dates of receipt.

2. Procuring materials for direct usage, which deals with checks on statistical data of physical stocks, consumption, daily, weekly or monthly requirements and placing orders.

3. Dispatch and transportation, planning and execution.

· The project manager will liaise with the lead for funds and materials required from abroad and company suffices, stores, warehouse and workmanship.

· The site agent will liaise with project manager for direct purchase of materials.

· The site engineer will liaise with site agent on production, requirements, arrangements, transportation and storage.

Similarly, on equipment, spares, fuel, consumables, etc. the plant manager and stores head will play a similar role, all interacting with each other. A regular meeting will also be convened with all heads for achieving the common goal of works. The company proudly boast of having a unique coordinator among its staff to achieve smooth progress of work.
